The Spanish Radio and Television Corporation (RTVE) - formerly Ente Público Radiotelevisión Española - is a state-owned commercial company that organizes the indirect management of the public radio and television service of Spain. The corporation divides its television and radio services into two subsidiaries: Televisión Española (TVE) for the audiovisuals and Radio Nacional de España (RNE) for the radio. Its operation, since January 2010, is financed by an item of the General State Budgets, which covers 50% of the expenses, while the other half comes from an extra tax of 0.9% to telephone companies, 3% of the revenues of private open televisions and 1.5% of pay televisions
