CNews, formerly known as I-Télévision and then I-Télé, is a French national continuous news television channel. The channel was renamed CNews on February 27, 2017 at 5:58 a.m., a name that was postponed following the longest strike ever known in the history of the channel still at that time during the I-TV era (the name change was originally supposed to take place on October 24, 2016). The name of Canal News incorporates the prefix "Canal" common to the other channels of the group, C8 (formerly D8) and CStar (formerly D17). The new names of the three free-to-air channels bring them closer to the Canal+ group and its toll channels.
