Yaprak TV and Radio, which was founded in 1993 by Mehmet Ali Yaprak under the name Yaprak TV, started its broadcasting life in 1994. Yaprak TV, which started broadcasting based in Gaziantep with a Regional Terrestrial Television (T2) license allocated by RTÜK, received a 3-month broadcasting ban in 1999. The organization, which took the name Kanal 5 after the broadcasting ban, was purchased by the Ünal family in 2001. The organization, which has been broadcasting in News/ Information format since 2005, has started broadcasting from Türksat 3A since August 1, 2012. In addition, as of this date, the content, broadcasting system and logo have changed. As of September 25, it started to take place on the D-Smart platform.
