M6, for Métropole 6, published by Métropole Télévision, is a French national generalist private commercial television channel that has been broadcasting since March 1ᵉʳ, 1987. M6 is the main channel of the M6 Group or Metropole Television Group which owns other channels including W9, 6ter, Paris Première and Téva. The group is also present in the fields of mobile telephony, distance selling, Internet, football, cinema and the press. He has as majority shareholder RTL Group, itself under the control of the German company Bertelsmann, belonging to the Mohn family.
