Telemadrid is the first autonomous television channel in the Community of Madrid (Spain) and the fifth created at the national level, after the autonomous televisions of the Basque Country, Catalonia, Galicia and Andalusia. Affiliated to La FORTA since its birth, it is a public broadcaster that belongs exclusively to the autonomous government. It began its broadcast on May 2, 1989, the day of the Community of Madrid. Since always, its programming has been dominated by informative programs, oriented towards the population of the region. Given that Madrid is the capital of the country, and that it has distanced itself in recent years from the autonomous and local character by orders of the management, it places special emphasis on national political information. Telemadrid was continuously accused of offering biased and unprofessional information favorable to the Popular Party (PP) between 2003 and 2015, during the governments of Esperanza Aguirre and Ignacio González.
