TVR 2 is the second channel of the Romanian Television Society. It was established on May 2, 1968, under the name "Programul 2" with coverage only in Bucharest. Initially, it only broadcasted on Thursdays starting from June 16, 1968, and on Sundays, and from July 20, 1968, also on Saturdays. A few years later, the broadcast became daily, but the coverage area did not expand until 1985 when the channel was discontinued.
