Kapital’s Aaron Kaplan, Brian Morewitz, and Michael Lohmann are producing the double feature alongside Kaplan’s daughter Jaiden Kaplan, who initially came up with the idea for these films.
Jaiden Kaplan is now a junior at Duke, and Deadline reports that she “came up with the idea for Một dặm while she and her dad were on a college tour in the Northeast in 2019 and were driving on a particularly desolate highway surrounded by woods on one side and half-frozen lakes on the other.”

Một dặm and its sequel are going to be released by Paramount Global Content Distribution – and the goal is for these films to be theatrical releases. The Deadline report didn’t mention who might be directing them.
The idea of a father and daughter battling a murderous, wood-dwelling cult sounds like a solid horror movie set-up to me, and Một dặm has caught my attention even more with the fact that it already has a sequel lined up. I look forward to seeing how these movies are going to turn out.
