Real Madrid TV is a Spanish international subscription television channel, owned by Real Madrid Football Club. It is the official television channel of the club and currently has one signal in English and two simulcast signals (SD and HD), in Spanish. Its high definition version, "Real Madrid TV HD", broadcasts free-to-air in Spain through a national DTT channel. "Real Madrid Televisión", a pioneering football and basketball channel in Spain, was founded in 1998 on the initiative of Sogecable, a company of the PRISA Group, which held all the operating rights to the channel until 2001, the year it became entirely controlled by the club. The channel was launched on February 15, 1999, through the dial 55 of the Digital Satellite Channel platform.
